Hommage à André Alain (Pascal Gemme) / La gigue à Pierre Chartrand (Pascal Gemme)

La première est dédiée à un violoneux québécois qui fait partie des incontournables de la fin du 20è siècle. Il nous a légué une multitude de magnifiques airs plus ou moins tordus qui sont maintenant des classiques.

La deuxième pièce a été composée en l’honneur du gigueur et fin gastronome Pierre Chartrand. En plus d’être une véritable encyclopédie vivante de la danse et de posséder l’afro le mieux entretenu de la province, c’est grâce à lui que Pascal connaît le 5-4-3 (reel à giguer composé d’une première partie en cinq temps, d’une deuxième partie en 4 temps et d’une troisième partie en trois temps).

The first piece is dedicated to one of the greatest Quebecois fiddlers of the latter 20th century, André Alain. His legacy consists of a multitude of magnificent (generally crooked) tunes, most of which are now considered classics.

The second tune was composed for Pierre Chartrand, master stepdancer and dedicated gourmand. Not only is he a walking encyclopedia on the subject of traditional dance, but he also has the best-kept afro in the province. Furthermore, it is thanks to Pierre that Pascal knows of a type of piece simply called the 5-4-3, a tune in three parts that respectively have five, four and three beats to the bar.
