Nagez Rameurs (Trad) - arrangement Pascal Gemme et Genticorum

Le titre de cette chanson réfère au terme nautique de «nage», c’est-à-dire :

l’action qui consiste en la synchronisation de tous les avirons d’une embarcation pour obtenir une meilleure poussée.
Le nocher de l’embarcation, habituellement un chanteur à la voix puissante, est responsable d’assurer une nage efficace servant à propulser les voyageurs à travers l’immensité des grands espaces de notre pays.

Cette chanson est une traduction du poème «A Canadian Boat Song» du célèbre poète irlandais Thomas Moore (1779–1852).
Cependant, le quatrième couplet vient de Pascal et fut inspiré
par la poésie rurale d’Antoine Gauthier.

Even in French, the title of this song is somewhat confusing: “Swim, Paddlers!” In this case, though, the word “nagez” refers to the synchronization of the rowers in a longboat in order to get the best results from their efforts. A worthy endeavour, considering the vast expanses that these rowing teams had to cover on their journeys!

This song is actually based on a translation of a poem by the famous Irish poet Thomas Moore (1779-1852) called “A Canadian Boat Song”. The fourth verse, however, was written by Pascal, inspired by the rural poetry of Antoine Gauthier of Les Chauffeurs à Pieds
